ignition problems

has anyone had to replace the ignition switch in there fbody? I go to start my 94z and the security light comes on and it wont start if anyone has had to do this could you tell me how hard it is to change thanks.

Did you try the backup key too? Sometimes its the key itself. You could also have some lint/debris in the switch assembly that could be cleaned out. I realize this doesn't help you change the switch...just trying to exhaust the easy options before you have to change it.

more then likely the wire that connects to your ignition cylinder which reads the resistance in your key has a short in it. You may be tearing apart your steering column soon. Hopefully someone else can help you more with this. Just to make sure. Clean the contacts on your key, just to be safe. Good Luck.
