He changed out the ignition cylinder? Or a door lock cylinder?
Neither should have affected the wiring for the remote start. If anything, he may have accidently disconnected some of your alarm wiring affecting your remote start.
Anyway, just replacing the lock cylinder won't mess with the remote start unless he purposely or accidently disconnected something.

the guy was a total jerk... he took out $250 worth of random nuts and bolts... and now the remote start doesnt work... i thought it was bc it was a new lock cylinder... it goes on then instead of starting it just stops
i can hear the fuel pump click... its like having the key on ignition... just it doesnt even try to turn over then 10 seconds later it just turns off... im sueing the guy but id like to know what this is... ever since the day my alarm has been real insensative and the remote start hasent worked

Really though, you are just going to have to get under the dash and take a look at things and see what you can see. You've had two people say that it sounds like a wire just got disconnected. If you don't feel comfortable with doing something like this you might want to just have a buddy or somebody who is a little familiar with electronics take a look at it for you. Good luck!
Actually I think its the VATS. I remember having to measure the resistance in the VATS system and going to Radio Shack and purchase resistor(s) to match. I had a buddy help me do this and it was like 6yrs ago so I can't be more specific at the moment. I guess the resistor is in the key? Somebody else should know more about this, but I'll try to get ahold of my buddy that did my remote start.
Edit: I just noticed its a '93 and don't know if you have VATS. If you don't then its definitely something he disconnected.

Ahh, makes sense. Only replaced the lock cylinder, not lock cylinder and keys.
Only other thing that comes to mind is it sounds like the reley for the starter is not working but the one for the ignition is. Some remote starts use internal releys and some use more common external releys. Good luck.

Do you know if they changed anything else like having to do with the VATS system? Do you still have an old key laying around and a multimeter? If you have one of your old keys, check the resistance across the two metal tabs on the key and compare it to your new key. If different, that's your problem. There is a resistor used during the install of your remote start to "fake out" the security system and make it think your key is inserted. If they changed out the key (and the VATS module) then you'll need to change out the resistor used for the remote start as well... change it to match the resistance of the key.
