new lifters necessary w/ cam install ??

hey guys,,doing heads/cam/ rockers and stuff, is it necessary for me to replace my lifters?? no sound coming from them right now,,car has 130,000 miles.

if i do need to get some, can i just get gm replacements,,or can i actually "ugrade" to some "performance" ones??
thanks

In my opinion whith that mileage, mine has 131,000 miles and just replaced lifters with big repair and they were quiet also, go ahead and replace lifters, you are already there.. I used Comp Cams, Comp R lifters.

When i did my cam i chose not to do the lifters and i regretted it.... After the cam one of them collapsed and it sucked......... So my advice is to go ahead and do it.......

I heard too many stories about collapsing high mileage lifters after a cam swap. I went with comp r's right from the getgo and haven't had a peep out of them since. Since I did the cam swap on my own car, I am now working at an Fbod/Vette speed shop. From doing as much top end work as I have done, I will say replace the lifters. Even if you get stock GM roller lifters, make sure you get them.

let me rephrase, is there any disadvantage with going with new stock lifters? at that price its quite a deal as compared to the aftermarket....

the disadvantage to the stock lifters is that they are not rated for high RPMS. I however have been pushing mine to 6500 and they hevent failed, however with my XE 230-236 still not peaking at 6500 I find myself wishing I had used Comp R lifters so i could do 6600 or 6700.

I will be doing a cam install in the very near future on my 68K LT1. Would anyone consider this high mileage? I am trying to get together the last few parts and I am debating replacing lifters while I am "in the engine". Thanks for any suggestions.........
