new & improved dyno #s…416rwhp/375rwtq!!!

I finally got my car finished and hit the dyno yesterday. I’m extremely happy with the results….peak rwhp was 416, peak rwtq was 375. These are SAE corrected dynojet #s. I’ll try to get a graph posted soon, but it pulled over 400rwhp from 5,800 to 6,700. Torque was equally impressive. For those unfamiliar with my setup, I’ve got a stock bottom-end LT4 with almost all the bolts, Bauer Racing Custom cam & valve spring package/Bauer Racing ported intake/Ai heads/monoblade throttle body/ LT headers/42lb. injectors/etc. If anyone’s interested, I’ll compile and post a full modification list.

I’d really like to thank Scott & Jeff and A&S Automotive in Keller, TX for troubleshooting and dyno tuning my car. These guys do awesome work and are experts with these motors. I’d definitely recommend them to anyone.
Another big thanks to Bret at Bauer Racing. His knowledge and service before, during and after the sale were tremendous.

Others who deserve thanks include: my buddy Matt, the guys from PCMforless, Combination Motorsports, Denny McLain, and guys who post here regularly like Injured, Shoebox, Mindgame, etc. This site is lucky to have these guys. This was my first solo project and the information that I gained from simply “Searching” was invaluable.

Congrats...I knew your setup had more in it.

What did you change? What was holding it back?

Re: new & improved dyno #s…416rwhp/375rwtq!!!

Thanks guys. I also knew it had more in it. I still think that I can get 420-425 streetable rwhp. I've got a couple of other mods still remaining I'm working on finding/posting my detailed mod list along with some pics.

I went from a very peaky 393rwhp/356rwtq to a long flat 417rwhp/375rwtq with the following...

from CompCams EX 236/242 cam and 850 valve srping...to BRE cam (probably around LE2 size) and valvespring package
from stock LT4 intake...to BRE ported LT4 intake
from stock 48mm TB w/ airfoil...to AS&M monobalde
from stock lifters and AFR Rev Kit...to Morel lifters
from stock 28lb LT4 injectors...to 42lb Delphi
from LG Motorsports dyno tune...to A&S Automotive dyno tune

I don't think the TB, lifters, or injector change really added much (if any) horsepower. I just got real good deal on the parts and figured that I'd need them for a future stroker motor.

Ty, good results.

The bent valves that I found didn't help too much either.

I think you used to have 985 or something like that for valve springs, whatever you got on the heads before. Either way it's good to see an improvement in high RPM HP and midrange TQ with a smaller cam.

Yep, you're correct on all accounts. Those valvesprings were certainly not adequate for that cam. Imagine that…smaller cam = more hp/tq

Is your goal strictly streetable hp?

Just out of curiosity, isn't it reasonable for an lt1/lt4 with ported heads and a custom grind cam to hit 450rwhp with ease?

Then again, I did not look at what drivetrain you are running.

With ease? Tell us when you get there Kurt.

Ty, that whole valvetrain made my job easy finding you power.

Re: new & improved dyno #s…416rwhp/375rwtq!!!

LE2's usually make around 420rwhp with good tuning. Mine isnt very streetable, I run 3" exhaust with a 3" glasspack. So there really isnt any bottlneck, thus being really loud all the time. I am working on a stock type exhaust with a cutout in order for the car to be daily driven again. I need to get my car on the dyno, however using datamaster I am right around 430rwhp and 389rwtq.
