New Hooker Shorties?

I had seen a couple of ad's in mags for the past few months about these "new" hooker shorties. Anyone running these. I am very interested in these because I want to keep the y pipe I have, (as long as it bolts right up), and don't want to lose ground clearance like long tubes would do. I also had hookers on a previous car, and liked them a lot

Also, on the same note, anyone know the stats on them. All I know is that they are 1 5/8 primaries, which I want for more low end torque, but I haven't heard about any exact numbers about hp and torque gains. And if anyone knows about plug access, that would be a plus too.

I'm starting to ramble...

Robert,

I have set if these - I'll be installing them this week. I got the Jet-Hot version with the Y-pipe. They look very high-quality too. I'll post a report on how the install goes..

Im not sure about the hookers, but the SLP Dual cat headers will bolt right up to your stock y-pipe. Something to look into if you want to keep the y-pipe you have now.

Re: New Hooker Shorties?

I got them a month after they came out. Which was like over a year ago. THEY SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!

They did not fit good AT ALL!!!! On the drivers side they hid the frame. The passanger side sucked becuase there for "dual cats". Good luck getting the bolts tight. You cant get in there for the life of you. I had a variety of 6 differnt wrenches and could get them snug by then the bolts were almost stripped. They sucked I took them off and sold them.
IMHO DO NOT BUY THEM

I already bought them months ago

I figured with the hex-key heads on the Stage 8 bolts it shouldn't be too bad. Shorties that hit the frame? Jeez, that IS bad!

I had the single cat shorties and they sucked too. Ports were not in D shape and had a lot of leftover slag and the flanges were thin and warped quickly. Also, the y pipe never sealed quite right. I would have to say stay away from the hooker shorties
