Welcome...

Look for a non-abused camaro. It'll give you the least problems. And the optis can go out in these cars and give you some serious headaches, but some other people have never had problems- hit or miss... on the other hand the accurate timing and high compression give some really great throttle response.

You're bound to have electrical problems with an LT1 at one time or another, but try to get one that acts like new. Starting problems, backfiring, surging, and stalling can be clues to some nasty problems later. The engine should be fine, they don't ever seem to break till you at least add a cam or some boost. Get an manual if you can, more fun, more rare, holds value better. Not to mention, the auto also seems to be a hit or miss issue on reliability (although it will outperform a Ford auto any day of the week ). Mine shifts like a rock, but I'm not everybody. All years offer close to the same performance, so you can find a 93 or 94 for cheap or get a 96/97 z28 or ss in really good condition.

Good luck.
