New to this forum need help please
i just traded in my V6 mustang and bought a 95 camaro z28 with flowmasters, shift kit, Cai, mass air meter and a rebuilt trans and engine. Im not too familiar with the lt engine. I want to modify it. What can i do to it besides put a ls1 in it.
.
i also have a question on the car since i am a noob when it comes to Camaros.
it shifts just at 6,000 rpms is that normal? "when i floor it that is"
thanks

Good to hear your misguided Mustang days are over.
But for your question, instead of actually answering it, Im gonna refer you to the search engine. There just type in anything you want and youll get the most relevant information... and theres more out there than you can read in a week. And for all you know the motor may already be modified a good deal... probably be to your benefit to contact the previous owner and ask him about the cars history.

A few of the more common things that really wake these cars up are:
Long Tube Headers with Off Road Y ( No Catalytic Converters) A good cheap brand that is great quality are Pace Setter long tubes ...
Also, another pretty simple thing that will net you some nice top end power is switching from stamped steel factory 1.5 rocker arms to 1.6 Roller Rockers. However when you do this, you need to change the valve springs. It will give noticable gains.
With just bolt ons, an LT1 car will be faster than a bone stock LS car. Actually usually all it takes is a CAI, Headers, ORY and Cat Back and they will put a car length or two on a LS1 based car in a 0-100ish race ...
And just so you know, its actually alot harder to put an LS1 in than you would think. THeir too high for the stock hood. And really are not worth the swap. Its easier to just trade the car in on a LS based car than to try and swap them ... The gains you would see would never justify the price ...

thanks for the help. now i have some mods on the car which im happy with and now after hearing from some people i know that the Ls1 engines have problems i dont think im going to swap engines.
Re: New to this forum need help please
It's not so much that they have problems ... They just have problems being easily swapped into an LT1 based car ...
And their known for piston-slap but I have no first hand experience with a LS1 motor in that condition so I really cant say too much about it.
Aside from this, LS1's actually are a fantastic motor. All aluminum, 6 bolt mains ( Which are kind of neaded since its aluminum block and everything, but they have proved to be VERY durable) and the heads are fabulous. That said though, once you start modding, it doesnt make a whole lot of difference. You cant go wrong with either really.
