ok i just traded in my mustang for my current 95 t/a a4...i have some wuest. about it..
1)oil pressure guage at idle when warmed up is extremly low... almost maybe even touches the red..
2)a clunking noise while accel. around corners from rear?
3)when rolling to a stop when the trans downshifts into first it clunks
4)when flooring the car..it brings the tach a little after the red line..around 6000rpms.
is all this normal? car has 83k on it..and i have a 3 month warrenty..

 

1) thats normal
2) possibly busted trans mount, if trans seems like its 'jumping' every time you accelerate
3) ?
4) seems a little high, but may be normal.

hook your car up to a scanner and see if its throwing any codes. if the trans is shot, get that sucker replaced in your warranty, if it covers...

 

The oil pressure seems a little low to me. But that could be a few different things, the type of oil thats in there and if theres enough of it in there. And yeah, is this clunking around corners only when you are accelerating or is it all the time, even if you are not giving it any gas at all?

 

I would be worried about the low oil pressure. Mine had 20psi at idle with 100k+ on it before the rebuild.

 

yep oil pressur ewould bother me i have a 180k on mine and my oil pressure is just the same as when i bougth it. 35 idle 45 driving down the highway, all after the ar is warm, and when i crank it in the morning it sits on 60. 10w 30

 

Going slowly about 5mph i also have a clunking every time the wheels rotate
one complete turn and it comes from the rear but not sure what it is either

I do have that clunking while stopping or slowing down into 1st and i just had my tranny rebuilt about 1 1/2 yrs ago and it was always there since i bought the car. I have a poly mount and before it was a cheap autozone lifetime mount that i kept breaking. I think its normal.

 

If the oil pressure gauge is really hitting the red or close to that at a warm idle, then that is not good like the other guys are saying...I have about 110,000 miles on my '95 and the gauge shows between 20-22psi when fully-warmed up while idling...

How high does the tach go when you start accelerating (part throttle) and at full throttle? That would also tell if you're getting the correct amount of pressure at varying rpms...Could be the pump, but rather than guess I'd just take it to a good shop and have them diagnose it for you...

But you don't want to wait on something like that...

2 and 3 sound like a broken tranny mount.

1 could be low on oil (did you check it?) or a bad sensor.

 

Your oil is pressure is fine for idle should be around 6-10 psi. I would be worried while you were accelerating and your oil pressure dosen't move or goes down.
