New Engine Wiring Harness for 1995 Trans Am 5.7 Auto

Hi Guys,

Brand new here. My dad had an 85 Trans Am (red with the silver trim on the bottom) before he passed away. I bought a 95 Trans am in 99 after he passed away as a tribute, then had kids, stored it for 10 years in a garage. I've pulled it out this summer as a project car with my kids. I can do some stuff but more complicated stuff goes to the mechanic!

The engine runs - new battery, brakes, fluid changes. The current issue is that the wiring is all chewed up! Animals moved in and made nests - so that's all cleaned but many many of the wires are no good. Basically needs a new engine wiring harness. Currently the spedometer doesn't work - speed sensor wire is chewed, ABS doesn't work etc etc. I could fix all the wires but it's probably damaged beyond repair to the wires.

Long story short can someone point me in the right directly as to where to buy a wiring harness for 1995 Trans Am 5.7 V8 Automatic (I wish it was manual) with traction control - and it has T-tops in Green - not that that matters for the wiring harness!

Hope to be a contributor to the forum. Love these cars and excited to get back in the game.

A quick google and I found this https://www.hawksmotorsports.com/199...t-application/

I'm in Canada BTW - ebay has some stuff too - just wondering if there are a few "go to" places for stuff like this. Obviously local scrap yards too.

Talk to these guys: www.bp-automotive.com

They advertise harnesses for LS swaps, but they did a stock replacement for my 1994 TA a couple of years ago.

Usually takes them 6-8 weeks.

New will cost you around $800 so if you can find a decent used one like what is described in your link from Hawk's, that will save you some time and money. You might have to go that route if no one makes new ones anymore. Unfortunately, our cars are getting pretty old.

Another thing to think about, if you are already buying another harness for that cost, is an update to 24x. Check out EFI Connections kits. You would basically get rid of the Optispark, upgrade to coil on plug, and make the car significantly easier to find a tuner. It is more than just the harness, but an option to think about!
