What are you current mods? If not already done, I would get some headers, full exhaust, and a cold air induction kit before even considering a cam. To take full advantage of the cam your engine needs to be able to breathe freely first. You will not see good gains until the other things are done. I can't wait to get some headers and then it will be cam time for me as well. But first I will need some more of that green stuff everyone talks about....

I just put in a CC305. I think it is the best cam for my application. It well pass California emmisons (with programing) it is bigger the LT4 Hotcam. Do a search under my name and word "cam" I posted the final parts list and costs.

Mainly you need sort out the need and want parts. I all depense on how much you want to spend. It would be nice to change to a elcetrice water pump during the cam swap ($200), also a new timing set as apposed to the chain.

EDIT: Here is the link: http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...&highlight=cam

green stuff= money

and if you don't have headers.. you'll be wasting time and money for no gain...

I would say CC305 is the best cam

i have a CC305 and all the other goodies (1.6RR's, springs and what not)
headers and whatever
and i get better then stock gas milage IF i keep my foot of the pedal

Me and a friend of mine with a bone stock 96 SS went on a road trip... driving the same, i got 20miles to my tank more then he did.

when you do cam do springs an RR's too..

EDIT= if you live in canada, money isn't green!
its multicolour

Green stuff = Money. Sorry for any confusion.

Like I said, I would get headers first before a cam. You will be pissed if you go to all the time, money, and effort of a cam install and only pick up a few ponies because your stock manifolds are still choking your engine.

But for cam advise, lots of people are liking the CC306 lately. It does well with stock heads and even better with ported or aftermarket ones. Not to mention it sounds badass! Do a search on the CC306 and you should have plenty of info to sort through. Goodluck, because picking a cam is a tough thing to do and you will get a lot of mixed reviews. Opps almost forgot, do a search on the "Hot Cam" as well. Later.

Hey Kuppler, I just looked at your total price thread, but how much did all the gaskets cost you? I thought you would have to take the heads off, but you didnt mention those gaskets. How do you like your new set up anyway?

I didn't take the heads off so the gaskets weren't needed. I like the set up so far. I haven't really had time to enjoy it because my bottom end just went.
