New best for 396 LT1 - 11.7 @ 118.8

Headed out to Speedworld today as we finally had some decent conditions. Last time out, my best was a 12.1 @ 117.3 with a 1.96 60'. Needless to say, traction was an issue.

I added LCA relocation brackets and ran a new best today of 11.754 @ 118.818. Here's a breakdown of the run:

r/t____014
60'___1.838
330'__4.979
1/8__7.618
MPH__94.180

1000'__9.790

E.T___11.754
MPH__118.818

I backed this up with about six 11.8xx passes. Not bad considering the car still has 3.23s in the back and hasn't been on the dyno yet. A few more tweaks and the car should have no problem getting me kicked off the track. :P

For those who aren't familiar with my car, it's a 396 LT1 with an LE2/4 setup, street twin, etc. bla bla.

Here's the video of the 11.7 run. The video was shot on a still camera, so the sound quality kind of sucks and there is no zooming:

Here are a couple more vids from the day:

11.8 @ 118

12.0 @ 118

Nice work. Gears should be worth a few tenths more, assuming your traction problem is solved. I like your fun car/ daily driver combo, if only I lived somewhere hot...

10 degrees and 2 inches on the ground and currently snowing. I am closing my eyes and taking me and my car to your region for a break from this crap. Got car running perfectly last week got 1 hour of fun in and then it hit.

Thanks guys.

It was 8* when I left for the track this morning. I live at 5400', so I know all about cold weather and snow. However, Phoenix does make a nice escape in the winter - I live 90 miles north of Phoenix.

Very nice times. What other suspension mods do you have besides the LCA relocation brackets?

i think with some more suspension mods, stickier tires, and gears, 11.5's are definately capable

pretty good track results considering the 1.83 60 ft and 3.23 gears.

Get some 3.73 gears in that thing and some 26 x 10 slicks and you should see a 1.60 60 ft and run 11.30 @ 120 MPH assuming you have a 9" or 12 bolt.

A stock 7.5 rear end might be better off with a 1.70 60 ft launch and an 11.50 @ 120 MPH.

I know every tenth my car slows down in the 60 ft ends up being 2 tenths in the 1/8 and 1/4 mile. Work on the 60 ft and that car will be a rocket.

Yeah that car has is making some awesome torque to pull that 3.23 gear with a M6 on top of it. With an auto it's not too hard but with the high first gear in a M6, that is what is also hurting traction. When a car spins with a high gear it jkeeps spinning abit. Later Clint

Nice times, I've been to Speedworld a few times and I've heard they usually run better times than Firebird

I haven't weighed it, but race weight was probably around 3450 or so (including myself - I'm 220).

From my experience, I've ran about the same at both tracks.
