Nees honest ans. to cam ?'s
Nees honest ans. to cam ?'s
I have a 60k Lt1 engine in a 95 Formula with a six speed. This engine and tranny will be swapped into a 77 Camaro next year sometime. I'm doing the upgrades to this engine now so I don't have to deal with it after the swap. Now to the question.....this car is an occasionally driven vehicle that might make it to the track 3-4 times a year just to play around. I'm looking at a 230/242 on a 112 with the XE lobes for this engine. Will this work for what I want to do? Driveablility is a concern b/c I will have A/C on the car etc. but I also want power and aggressive sound. I've checked other posts about this cam and get mixed reviews. Who has this cam and will it work on a stock engine with headers, dual exhaust etc. (normal bolt ons)
Any reply will be appreciated b/c I know next to nothing about LT1 roller cams. It's all new to me.
Thanks, Bryan

Re: Nees honest ans. to cam ?'s
I would get a 224/230 or 227/233 if I were you. Those will get the job done better for your intended purpose, they can sound aggressive with LT headers and a good exhaust system and they will not affect your driveability as much as that 230/242. They will also deliver the power earlier which means you will not have to rev it real high (thus reducing engine life) to get good results.

I have a 230/236 112 lsa, it is perfect for my expectations... lots of power (snapped my rearend first run down track w/ DRs), good driveability, pulls like a biatch and only revs to 6100rpms!
I cant tell you dyno numbers or track numbers now tho, sorry
but get an electric water pump w/ the cam, I noticed as much a gain as w/ my headers w/ that thing.
