Need Your Opinion! Cam or N2O?

My taxes are on their way and I'm looking into another mod. I was originally going to do a cam install for sure, but I've had to by a new opti in the last few days which set me back 200 bucks. Anyhoo, now I'm looking at either N2O or maybe even the cam install. I'd still really like to do the cam. So my question is what is your opinion? The motor has approx. 68000 miles on it. If you've done a cam install already, how much did it cost you for everything (if you don't mind sharing)? I'm currently looking at the N218K kit from Combination Motorsports which is $578. What other expenses am I looking at besides what is included? Basically what did your complete install cost? I know I'll need gaskets, but what else is needed or do you suggest is needed? Here is the kit from Combination.

If I go with N2O, I'm going to get an NX 150 shot kit, probalby used. What accessories are needed with the kit? And most importantly, what will I need to make it a nice safe setup?

Thanks, for any and all help and suggestions!

if you dont have enough cash for the cam i would save up for a little while longer....

But that is because i am not a fan of N2O, even if setup properly it still puts alot of stress on your motor + everytime you want to use it its gonna cost you like 5 bux. 5 bux for 20seconds! damn!

So yea a cam is free power all the time... JMHO

That's true, but if I were to go with the Nitrous I'd only use a 100 shot. I'd like to have a cam though, because in the long run it will be cheaper and I'd also like to change the sound of the car. I love the way a camed car lopes.

I say get a cam.The power is always there,no bottle to fill.I am putting one in during the summer, just need the cam and gaskets.I thought about N2O but I would hardly use it and would kill my motor for sure.I am good at that. I would say the cost would be $1000-$1200 for everything.Hope that helps you.

I would say definatly a cam. Also if you havent done the Opti yet it would seem rediclous to have the whole front of the motor off and not go ahead and put the cam in.

Yea, I've got an opti on the way. It should be here this Tues. That's why I'm looking into a cam. I don't want to have to do it twice. Thanks for the opinions guys. It's very appreciated.

How much more power do you want to experience?

You won't find a street-drivable cam that will add 100HP+ on stock heads, and 125TQ+ like you would have with the n2o kit. But, yes, you would have whatever increase you'd get, all the time.

I'm happy with my NX kit. I'm running a 125-shot now on the stock engine and fuel pump, and it is a RUSH.

My opinion....get a cam thats not too wild and has a good grind for nitrous. Then you have a cam with great drivability and increased power and will compliment the nitrous so later on you could add the bottle. its like the best of both worlds.

I ordered the nitrous cam 224/236 for my ride from them. With that package, shipping and all gaskets needed my total came to 620, a stock timing set is another 20 bucks and the hi po one is 250 I believe. I figure I might need a few more bucks for small parts, hopefully I can rent all the tools needed for the job which should keep the price down considerably. Its a good deal, and you get power all the time. Remember nitrous costs around 4-5 dollars a pound, so for a 10 pound bottle worth around 100 seconds, your gonna pay around 40-50 bucks. So in the long run it adds up. The cam change gives a big gain in power for sure, it should make you happy for a little while, until you decide on some other mode
