need urgent help with motor install

We can't get the input shaft of the tranny to slide into the pilot bushing of the motor.

Just installed my Street Twin and we can't get it in for the life of us... Don't know what to do!!

Any tricks or anything you can think of would be greatly appriciated.

Jesse

Cehck the pilot bearing & make sure you din't hit it cockeyed when dropping in the motor. ALso try turning the imput shaft from the rear of the tranny with the driveshaft when trying to put it in. Sometimes that's offline.

Ditto, realign the discs/floater.

Loosen up their bolts, stick the alignment tool all the way into the pilot bushing. Push the discs/floater back and forth a bit to make sure they are seated on the tool correctly... then tighten them snug... pull the tool, and tighten them down to spec.

Had the same prob with my Street Twin two years ago too.

the pilot bearing has one side that is slightly more rounded or chamfered. Make sure that end is facing out. It will help a little, because the other side is perfectly flat.
