Need suggestions for trim to fit plug wires.

I have been searching for some specific plug wires for my lt1 swap. I installed some shorty block hugger headers and I can't keep the plug wires off the tubes. I'm looking for suggestions on something similar to this.

I have been searching summit and jegs for the past hour looking for this type of valve cover clip with no success. I also don't know the first thing about trim to fit wires but I figure that is pretty elementary once I get them in front of me.

Any suggestions for which plug wires to use on an almost stock LT1? Thanks for any assistance.

Andy

If your unable to find the part your looking for you could consider getting boot covers.

Its a sleeve that protects about 5'' up from the boot, that should fix your problem.

I bought the MSD cut to fit wires, too many people have complained about taylors arcing for me to even consider them. Summit has them, I'm not sure what the part # is but if you call they should be able to find it for you. They were $90 when I bought them a year or 2 ago.

Plug Wire Looms

One of the threads below has pictures of a similar set-up. The manufacturer of that loom is a company called Made For You. Several hotrod shops in this area stock them in multiple colors. They work out very well and it's easy to open the holes a little if you want to run fat wires.

I'm going to call them up and order just the center bolt clips and a set of MSD 8mm wires. Thanks to everyone for helping me out! I can finally go drive this thing with out any fear of melted wires! I will post up some pictures in this thread once I get them installed!

Update: She told me to get them direct from Summit to save some money. They were very nice to deal with. I am getting this set here.

Now I just need to figure out which wires are cut to fit and call it good.

I would get a tech on the phone at Summit or Jeg's and specify a cut-to-fit set of MSD wires that were pre-fit with LT1 ends to fit the Opti. The rest will take care of itself. There are lots of pretty wires on the market but making a selection on the basis of color doesn't appeal to me. There are a few brands that are probably OK but when all is said and done, I'm not one who wants to compromise performance in favor of looks. I've raced seriously for over 40 years and over that time I've used several brands of wire sets. We ran Accel for years with good success. Since then I've had Moroso, MSD, and Holley with equal satisfaction. But, nothing has ever been better than MSD and their presence is ubiquitous. Their R & D keeps them at the leading edge. One of the previous contributors to your post suggested a boot protector for those really tight spots and I've had good success with those as added insurance against a burn.

Good luck. I'm sure that you will figure it out.

Thankfully I am after a set of Red wires to match quite a few other accents I have on my rig so the MSDs are a great fit. Both in performance and looks. I will take your advice to find the wires with the correct opti boots.
