Need some important info: Possible collapsed lifter
After a thread coming to my attention on LS1.com and LS1Tech.com about the an individual having problems with a motor built by the same mechanic who did my h/c package, and realizing that I've been having continual troubles with my car since, I need to know a couple of things.
Can I tell if a lifter is collapsed by only removing the valve cover?? If not, what's the least intrusive manner I can check for a collapsed lifter???
I need to know this as my car is having the same symptoms as the other persons car.

Well, the car's never run right since I took it back. NEVER. I'm just trying to check my lifters, because this other individual had 5 collapsed lifters on his car, for no aparrent reason. I'm just covering my bases because I'm still having problems.
That's where it gets fuzzy. I've got one dyno sheet showing 375/363 on HP/TQ, and the mechanic said the car just ripped. Unfortunately, I wasn't there to see it first hand. I replace the tune with an updated one, and the problem arose. A/F was way rich, and a stumble/hesitation at fast throttle movement presented itself. Light throttle/slow throttle movement driving it's fine, but any relatively quick throttle movement and it hesitates and stumbles for a split second before picking right up.
Also, my oil has a gassy smell. I haven't drained it, but I took the driver side valve cover off and smelled it, so I pulled the dipstick and took a whif. Definitely a fuel smell.
I'm just trying to rule out the possibility of a collapsed lifter. There shouldn't be one, considering that the cam is only a 224/230 and I'm using Comp R lifters.

Sounds like the tune from this statement. Why did you replace it if the car "ripped" with the previous tune?

Well, I don't have that tune, and the reason it got replaced was because it was a bit lean up top. Working on it though. Just ordered a Pocket Programmer as I have the tune on my computer right now.
