Need some help with true duals/bullets/dumps on my car
After heading to the exhaust shop today and finding out that my Summit "universal" X-pipe was not as universal as I had thought, I need some direction on what to get now. I need to go ahead and get the exhaust on it soon so I can get a tune on this thing.
Here's what I have- Summit universal 3" X-pipe, flanged collector reducers, (2) 12" dynomax bullet mufflers, (2) hangers, (2) turndowns. Apparently the X-pipe I have is not wide enough to mate up with the collectors on the hooker long tubes I have. I could have had the guy bend a sort of S-pipe on each side, but he and I both agreed there would be a better way to do it.
He mentioned that Texas Speed might have an X-pipe specifically for my car, but I didn't see anything on their site that would work.
1) Should I go with 2.5" pipes to try and salvage some clearance?
2) Where can I get an X-pipe that will at least come close to fitting my hooker long tubes?
Thanks for the help. I tried doing a search, but the function is not working right now. Also, if you have pictures of your setup that worked out well I'd like to see.

All you have to do is extend the pipe on one side coming into the X. All he needs to do is fab up one side (either the whole pipe or just a small extension) Personally I would go with 2.5" and ditch the turndowns, they drone and vibrate like hell.

Texas Speed has a true dual setup for LS1's that should convert without too much hassle. It's a bit pricey.......

I'm almost tempted to say F it and buy this.

Do you have a welder? All it takes is a weekend.

I am actually in the process of putting a pair of Aerochamber mufflers in place of the bullets. Just waiting on the damn UPS man.

Re: Need some help with true duals/bullets/dumps on my car
I don't have a welder, but I could get one. I really want to minimize the work I put into this car now though.
Car had been sitting for well over a year while I bought parts little by little, then I got the machine work done and assembled it, got everything in and going then had to pull the motor AGAIN due to a pinhole leak in the passenger side head. After having the head welded and all reassembling everything that came apart, pretty much my entire ignition system (minus the opti- go figure) more or less s*** itself.
Anyway, I'm tired of making things work, or figuring out ways to make something work, I'm just ready to get this thing together and drive it. It's getting a dyno tune in a week or two, and the exhaust needs to be done so the oxygen sensors will read correctly.

I did mine in about 5 hours (first time welding too...looks like **** but it works). It will work, just take the time to figure it out.
Re: Need some help with true duals/bullets/dumps on my car
I ordered the LS1 true dual Y-pipe from Texas Speed. The guy at the exhaust shop recommended it, and he and the guy at Texas Speed said that it should only need some minor tweaking to make fit. Instead of the bullet mufflers I got the Moroso Spiral Flow mufflers on it to try and cut down on some sound.
I'll get some pictures of this thing when it arrives and is installed.
