need some help tracking down a problem

this is a tranny problem. So here's what happens. Sometimes, at low or high rpm, the tranny won't shift into gear. This is mostly on 2nd and 3rd. I would have to go back to neutral and then try go back into gear. Also, mostly 1st through 4th grear, sometimes it'll grind going in. At high rpm, the shifter will throw out of gear 3rd and 4th gear when shifter after I release the clutch. So any clues/suggestion? or is the tranny about to go bye bye?? any help would great.

I had a similar situation a while back with a mustang I had, my problem was the synchronizers were shot.

I got a couple of questions for you, How many miles on the tranny, and how long have you had the shifter on the car?

I hope this is a help to ya.

I've had the car brand new since Nov 96. I've got 88k on my car but it's been doing this for a while now. The Pro 5 shifter was put on a few months ago, not sure when but it was kind doing this before the Pro5.

My thoughts would be, either your syncros are out or your shifter stops aren't letting the tranny in gear the wole way.

nope, I'm not using the stops at all. I thought that might be the reason when it did that the first time so I put the stops all the way out.
