need some help/pointers for le2 build.

the car is a stock 95 z28

in the next few weeks im going to pull my engine and rebuild the bottom end. while its out im going to send the heads out to Elliot port works and have the heads redone intake ported and a custom ground cam done.

im going to reuse the stock crank and rods and put clevit bearings and forged pistons in. im going to use 1.6 roller rockers. im thinking about doing an electric water pump as well. I want to put mid length headers on the car are these going to be worth while? also wondering what side tb i should run, as well as what lifter are going to be the best bang for my buck? should i just buy new stock ones?

im also wondering about the stock fuel injectors am i going to have to get bigger ones?

what stall trq converter should i go with. i will be using the car for mostly the street and taking it to the track occasionally for some weekend fun.

im just looking for pointers and advice. i know alot of people on here have a lot of experience with this stuff and i dont want to wast my time with parts that arnt going to add power or reliability. im trying to keep the build costs down low. im not going to focus on the suspension right now. all im going to do is have the parts sandblasted and painted and put back in. im going to install new struts and lowering springs im going to lower is 1.3 inches.

any advice is greatly appreciated.

Im for certain that if your buying the le2 heads you can talk to him i know i have and hell explain what size injectors and stall converter. I think when i asked about the same set he recommended 36ib injectors and a 3000+ stall converter. Just ask him hes a cool guy. With your bottome end i would have the crank rebalanced and checked for straightness, and depending on if the crank needed to be reground on the rod journals is going to dictate what you need to do to the pistons. Id wait till the crank was checked out or send them both to the same place. Also with the rods definately go with arp rod bolts. You said you had headers so id definately go with a good catback exhaust which magnaflow exhaust is usually the best bang for your buck. ALong with have a cold air kit recommend k&n or slp even though i have a ligenfelter which is just fine to. Im not for sure but i think the le2 package is still good to go with factory bottom end internals i know it says it on his website and the bottom end is usually good for about 450 hosres and about 5500 rpm with the rods and rod bolts. With your setup i think youll be able to push around 6000 rpm which means if you plan on pushing it i would reccommend maybe buying some good eagle rods which you can buy on summit racing for about 225 the part number is sme-3-48-05-100. these are rated for 525 hp and 6000 rpm. Good buy for the price. Id go with the 52mm tb which there are many brands to choose from these are usually good for up to 425 hp with no restrictions. Also if your going to be havine this power keep in mind that factory trans is good for about three fifty horses and after that your taking a risk. If you buy this set up and install it i wouldnt be gunning it to much with a factory trans. Theres also a transmission company on ebay motors selling trans for about 1000 rated at 450 horses and they just lowered it to 500 dollars and it comes with a three year unlimited warranty whom i bought my trans from and has been good for me. go to ebay motors and type in the search box item #110443927849. This trans would usually cost around fourteen hundred bucks but all of them went on sale. Well also if your trying to save money just go with a 160 thermostat and a good tune will take care of the rest no need for the pump being electric. Good luck on the build i hope i helped you out at least a little.

im going to pick up the rods you recommended. i did think they would be that cheap. I plan on taking the block and the crank to a machine shop to have them machined and checked out.

Also sorry if i wasnt clear I dont have headers. I want to run something that will have the o2 sensors and cats so im thinking about going with a mid length header like this
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/93-97-95-CHEVY-CAMARO-TRANS-AM-LT1-5-7-STAINLESS-HEADER_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZalgoQ3dSIQ26itu Q3dUCIQ252BUAQ252BFICSQ26otnQ3d8Q26pmodQ3d11053514 8269Q26poQ3dLWIQ26psQ3d63Q26clkidQ3d83566131480577 29311QQ_trksidZp3907Q2em263QQcategoryZ33629QQitemZ 110433825346[/URL]
is something like that going to be worth while or should i just stick with the stock exhaust

im also going to skip the e-water pump from what you said and doing some reading it just doesn't seem worth while. .

we are going to rebuild the tranny are selves. My friend is a ase certified gm tech who rebuilds most of the transmissions for the local dealership.

By the way i have rebuild several stock engines for trucks and small cars but never modified one. im pretty good with fixing cars but im no expert. this is my first build and somethings i dont full understand so kinda talk to me like a novice. Like i dont understand stall on a trq converter i just know its important especially with different applications and power.

I think there are some good used headers on ebay right now for cheap and i think their edelbrock. And yes headers cold air intake and cat back exhaust are always worth it and should be your first upgrades. There are some pacesetter headers right now for 75 bucks on ebay with the y pipe and is ceramic coated its a steal. Cool to have a friend like that gonna save some money on the trans then. I think your gonna be in the 3200 range stall torque converter but definately ask lloyd who you are buying the heads and cam from. If you dont have the correct stall your car will not perform to its potential. Also remeber that if your crank has to be reground ask them for advice on what size rod and main bearings you should go with and they should know. Because these will change when and if the crank has to be reground. I know my original crank was good when i pulled mine and it had around 220000 miles on it. Good luck man and im surprised no one else has tried to jump in and help usually you would be getting all kinds of suggestions.
