need some help with high idle guys

Hey guys, ive got another problem, ever since ive owned the car its had a high idle..

ad say about 1200 rpm to 1500, ive gotten it down to the 500 to 900 range before when putting it into gear then it jumps to a grand and idles smooth,

i dont have a reader/scanner. (if anyone has one i can borrow let me know)

autozone doesnt have the OBD1 Connector for my car, they have OBD1 but the prongs dont match up or something from what the tech guy told me..

so im on my own here. my SES light has came on in the past, but its not on anymore. as i figured out what was wrong before and just said screw it and replaced everything that was wrong and it went off by its self..

so any clues? i think my MAF is descreened, and im not running a rubber seal from the MAF to the Stock air intake system, (thinking about getting a cold air intake anyway)

I'd start by looking for vacuum leaks.
