Wondering if anyone has had this problem before. Car runs fine when light crusing, but push the gas and the motor will stumble and it almost sounds like its Knocking or pinging. let off the gas or push the gas passed the stumble it stops and drives great. Reason for this i think is vaccum related or timing of some sort
car has 100k miles just replace the cat. conveter it was clogged
Any advice would be cool ,going to scan it when my friend brings it over

could very well be the opti but more info would be nice. Have you chaged the plugs and wires recently what rpm etc

 

Best bet is to scan the car and find out what is going on and if there is an SES light you will know why. I bet you are getting tons of knock retard due to a misfire like I had....same symptoms, under load it would cut back max timing but if you actually are hearing knocking and such I would look into it right away as when my engine cut back timing it was enough to prevent audible knock from the miss if there even was any. Sounds like either a wet opti or poor fuel pressure or contaminated fuel.

 

tranny recently rebuilt a week / plugs and wires changed in spring/ injector cleaner put in few days ago rpm band from 1800 to 2800 starts to chug

you say that if you put full throttle on it after 2800 it goes away? Have you checked any of your sensors to make sure they are working properly? Do you have access to a scan tool? Are you experienced in what "knock" actually sounds like? If so, and you are getting knock, I recommend driving as little as possible until you get it figured out, you should almost NEVER get true knock.
