Need some advice
My driver side header is leaking air,and I have to get rid of that damned ticking. What kind of header gasket should I get.The standard fel-pro or an alumminum or copper gasket.I don't want to do this again.
Soaking the exhaust gaskets is supposed to soften them, when you clamp them in they shrink and get really tight. It is supposed to make a great seal. I can't complain as I did this method and they still work since 1995.
Also, when you start the car it gets hot. The heat affects the gaskets. When it cools it contracts... re-tighten the header bolts after a few heat cycles. This will ensure a good, tight seal.
