My driver side header is leaking air,and I have to get rid of that damned ticking.What kind of header gasket should I get.The standard fel-pro or an alumminum or copper gasket.I don't want to do this again.

 

I'm buying and installing it tomorrow. TTT

 

I've got the fel-pros... no leaks since 95. I soaked them for a few hours and bolted them on. After each of the hot/cold cycles I tightened the bolts (5 cycles).

Soaking the exhaust gaskets is supposed to soften them, when you clamp them in they shrink and get really tight. It is supposed to make a great seal. I can't complain as I did this method and they still work since 1995.

Also, when you start the car it gets hot. The heat affects the gaskets. When it cools it contracts... re-tighten the header bolts after a few heat cycles. This will ensure a good, tight seal.
