Need some advice

Hello,
my car is a 96z with 143k on the clock. I had it in the shop for a few things, but they found some "extra things". Its about $1500 to have everything fixed and replaced.
I'm not as technical as you guys so I was hoping to get some advice. I was wondering how much of this is BS and how much of this I really need fixed.

Btw, the car runs fine right now. I have enough for a down payment to get into a new car.
Heres what they said needs fixing:

Replacve Water Pump due to Leaking
Replace Coolant Level senor due to Failed
Replace Thermostat Due to leaking
Replace Front Crank Seal due to Leaking
Perform Transmission Service Replacing Transmission oil Pan Gasket and Filter.

For that, parts and labor is about $1500.

Thoughts and advice would be great

Let me ask you something, did you inspect it yourself, and does it look like it's leaking to you? Low coolant sensor is no biggy, don't really need it. Just check to make sure it's full every now and then.

The price seems a bit high. If they were including a new optispark (which they will have to remove to do the crank seal) then it would be about right. But then I don't know where you live. If you're in manhattan, then it's a good price...

Can't say whether it's worth doing the work or if it's necessary without knowing a lot more about the car and you. Sounds like you are wanting a new car, in which case I'd just do the water pump/coolant sensor/thermostat and leave the rest for the next owner. And I'd get a second opinion on those.

Re: Need some advice

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the responses.
Myshibby - I did not inspect it myself, but I may my brother look at it with me. Nothing looks like its leaking to me, there are no fluids on the ground. They classfied the leaks as "stage 1-2". I guess stage 1 is just around the valve or cap, stage 2 is inbetween stage 3, and stage 3 is linking onto the ground.

Steve- I live in california, which is pretty expensive lol. I am going to get a second opinion shortly though.

I think they are BSing you..at least on the water pump thing. If you don't see ANY coolant on the ground or ever have I just wouldn't trust them. Take a look from under the car and you should see some clues. As far as the thermostat (housing?) leaking, you can look at that also and see if there is any coolant..those normally don't just leak out of nowhere.
