Need Small mufflers for clearance. Exhaust Experts Inside!
Need 2 small mufflers for clearance for my side exhaust project
Anyone have any in mind? I have a Borla right now, with Longtubes, and was thinking of adding the muffler to the ends of the 3" collectors...
If I have to, I might have to go to 2.5" outlet from the muffler to the side GFX. Anyone know if going to that size will affect performance, or make it raspy???
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I have a Borla XR-1, 3" diam x 12" long "shorty" on each collector. They are about 5" thick. They do not provide much in the way of noise reduction. I'm playing around with some Dynotech noise reduction "cones" , but I have to find my noise meter before I can see how much they quiet things down.
Exhaust
Passenger side
drivers side - you can see the scrapes from when the car was lowered

Dyno max bullets 3 inch, very free flowing and do a decent job of muffling, of course you could add resonator tips of a large diameter to quell noise additionally.
I never liked any glass pack until I seen the bullets they are straight through design with the same dia core and the entry pipe, the flutes are cut away from the center too making less of a restriction. Best cheap glasspack I have ever seen.

Check out SpinTech Mufflers. www.spintechmufflers.com They sell oval type mufflers for ground clearance issues.
As soon as I install my Jet-Hot LTs I'll be running the same configuration as Injuneer, but with SpinTech mufflers instead.

Great posts people, thanks for the links, "performance" mufflers seem to be expensive. I wish distributors had sounds clips though!
Low-Profile Spin-Tech Muffler Seems to be the smallest in height.
But over $100 each!!!!

I would suggest either Dynomax Bullets or Spintech mufflers. Depends on what you want. The bullets will give the car a REALLY aggressive roar. Makes the car sound very raw and mean. Spintech sounds great because it kind of mixes the sound of Flowmaster with Dynomax Bullets. Pretty loud and has a great sound to it. If you want the car to sound nicer and more smooth, yet still maintain a wicked sound then go with the Spintech mufflers. If you want the car to sound like a monster waiting to eat small children, then go with the bullets. Either way, both mufflers provide good clearance and are able to be setup in many different variations. Good luck!
