Need quick help with location of part.
Need quick help with location of part.
I am in the process of removing my engine/trans. I have all the engine stuff taken care of and I am in the process of removing the transmission. It says to mark the rear axle pinion flange and the driveshaft in order to indicate their relationship. Where is the rear axle pinion flange? I have tried the search and I was unable to come up with anything. Perhaps shoebox can help me here. I know its something simple.
Also, I removed the clutch actuator cylinder and I did not remove the master clutch cylinder pushrod before. I assume as long as I do not push on the clutch it will not ruin the master/slave cylinders.
Do I just jiggle the clutch fork or does it actually pull down like a lever?
I am planning on removing the engine/trans as a whole.
Thanks!

Re: Need quick help with location of part.
i'm not sure what they are talking about? Maybe the u-joint between the driveshaft and the rearend? When i pulled my trany for my clutch job i left the driveshaft on the trany so i didn't have to drain it, i just unbolted it from the rearend at the u-joint.
Re: Need quick help with location of part.
What they are talking about is the flange on the rear end that your driveshaft is bolted to. That flange is bolted to the pinion shaft of the rear gears, so it is the pinion flange. Make a mark on the driveshaft and continue onto the flange, so that it can be reassembled like it came out. It can only go on one way or 180° opposite that.
