Need a quick answer on timing setup...
I am trying to decide how I want to go with a timing setup on my 1994 Trans Am a4.
I will be running
Combination motorsports 233/239 111lsa, Comp Pro Mags 7/16, Comp R lifters, EX 612 valve springs, 3200VIG stall, 3.73 gears, fully built a4, 30#SVOs, Racetronix FuelPump, Hooker Longtubes, true duals, and a K&N FIPK.
Obviously since I have a 94 I have a non-vented OPTI. Now my car has about 106,000 miles on it. I am also not sure if the OPTI has been changed recently.
SO I plan on swapping to a vented OPTI when I do my cam install. So my question is, can I run the LT4 ED timing setup on top of the vented OPTI and get by with that. I really don't want to run a electric H2O pump as I just bought a brand new lifetime warranty stock water pump.
I know that the LT4 ED timing chain has held 1100hp 4th gens, so I am not concerned about the strength or reliability of the unit. I just want to make sure that the timing setup will work with a vented opti setup and no other upgrades needed.
Thansk

I am sure you have heard this before, but I will suggest a double roller SBC timing set (87+) along with a CSI, it will cost damn near the same price, and you can get some power out of it too. Personally I think the best feature about it is that the pump can run when the car is off.
The LT4ED will work fine with your new cam and vented opti. Make sure you get the other conversion pieces, like a 1995 timing cover and the opti electrical and vacuum harnesses. Also check the dowel pin length on your new cam. ~.650" is what my stock 1995 dowel pin was.
