Need a quick answer..

Hi guys, I'm working on a buddies 96 Z28 he just got. I changed out the intake gaskets "originals" and cleaned out the intake had oil where the TB was. My Q was back then guys use to use Breather Filter Deutsch BF412 to prevent oil getting on to the TB..It seems Auto zone doesn't have any so I got this one instead it's part # BF3412 wanna know if I got the right one maybe part #'s changed or it's a cross reference # ?..Thanks

A small amount of oil in the throttle body is fairly normal. That's how the PCV system is designed. However, with lots of mileage and excessive blow-by, it is not uncommon to see quite a bit. The stock valve cover is baffled to help prevent this problem, but if it gets excessively bad you can remove the fresh air supply hose and replace with a baffled breather (while blocking off the throttle body). Keep in mind that the fresh air supply hose uses MAF-metered air, and deleting it (theoretically) can alter your air/fuel ratio, although this really hasn't been proven or disproven and lots of LT1 owners do this on a daily basis, including myself.

yes, it's a high mileage camaro, and I don't want to remove the CCV hose from the TB for the same reason you said about the air/fuel ratio being messed with. That's why I was thinking of putting the crank case breather to help filter out that problem, since I've read in old posts thats what they would use along with a oil catch can.
