Need piston information.

This is for a boosted application. I don't really know if I should post in the FI forum or if I should post here. I'm looking at two different pistons that JE produces for extreme duty boosted applications. Callies is pushing the piston that utilizes the 6.0" connecting rod. I asked them what the top ring land thickness was and they told me .270 which they said was enough for 30psi. My only concern with this piston is that because of the rod length the wrist pin is moved up into the oil control ring. I expressed a concern for this as I don't want the car to smoke like a freight train. JE told me that locating the wrist pin up in the oil control area wouldn't cause me to burn more oil. They said that was a myth. He did say that if you could keep the wrist pin out of the oil control ring you have the potential to make a stronger piston. Is his information correct or am I being sucked into a sales pitch?

The JE guy spends his life selling pistons all day so I'm pretty sure he knows what's up. I haven't had any excessive smoke probs with the pistons we've used with the oil ring in the wrist pin hole.
