its a tad pricey but not overly outrageous. you do get a lot, short of heads and they are nice parts. hell, if you run FLP's and a stainless system other than the loudmouth you are approaching $2g's right there. pricey it sure is and there are probably much cheaper ways to do it, but TPIS is a very reputable company, so you know its a legit package. your money, your call.

fuel pressure regulator ($100)

maybe they can go sucker a vette guy into to buying it
I'm not paying $2000 for their port job when there is phil and lloyd for $1500 and $500 respectivly.
maybe you forgot rockers and springs?
either way- figure another $100 on top of a custom ground cam for an LT4 HC kit or something??
LT4 Hc guys are making 400hp on stock bottom ends arne't they?
and drop the 52mm tb and pressure regulator. you dont need either.

I never said I agreed with their pricing

Their heads cost 1500$ fully assembled with manley 2.00/1.56 valves
TPIS ZZ9 camshaft - 375$
TPIS headers - 750$
Gale Banks catback - 375$
TPIS 52mm TB - 280$
TPIS AFPR - 120$
Airfilter - 50$
Plug wires - 87$
MSD 6AL - 200$ (everywhere else its 150$ like at Summit)
TPIS head gaskets - 40$ each (in actual fact impala head gaskets)
Can't remember how much their programming was but it was over 500$ if I'm not mistaken

Thats 4417$ right there.
The only gaskets included in the kit are the head gaskets and maybe TB gaskets.

Looks pricey doesn't it? But when you look closely at it thats what you pay for parts you'd buy individually. Most sets of ported LT1 heads go for 1500+, their cam is alittle expensive but most cams are ~240+. Coated Hooker LTs will cost you about 600$, the factor in 100$ for a custom y-pipe. Borla/Corsa, most high quality cat-backs are over 500$. TBs are usually 300$+, CAI - 160$+. You can save on the PCM program by going with PCMForless, then theres miscellaneous parts like plugs, gaskets.

When its all said and done most head and cammed LT1s with stock bottom ends have more than 4600$ in them.

If anyone would get that kit I'd suggest getting their longtubes and the ZZ-9X cam (239/239) that way you can make 400hp at the rear wheels The LTs are 25$ more and the cam is the same price.

If you go with tpis long tubes, make sure you skip the y-pipe. The y-pipe has lots of fitment problems and isn't exactly a free flowing design. I had to hack off about 3 inches to get it to fit right and it hung too low to the ground. Not to mention the y area was more like a T pipe! Nothing beats a custom y-pipe. Headers fit great though.

I have the Crane 210/224 cam and it really sucks big time. Considering I have a mild port job and bigger valves and I'm only making 303 rwhp should tell you something. On the other hand, it was on the same dyno a friend of mine with an 01 A4 SS with HPP+, Shorty headers, intake, and full exhaust put out similar numbers to me shoudl tell you something...

still, go for a bigger cam.
If you're only putting out 303 RWHP, I doubt that it is the small cam that is holding you back. I have seen 360+ with that cam, LTs and dyno tune. I believe Carl97SS had those numbers before he went to a 396.JMHO

I know BUBBA. Its just that is is hard to accept that my heads were probably ported all wrong..

I also haven't dyno tuned it... it just has a pcm for less program which gave me 0 power. It fixed some tranny/shifting issues and created others. I'm having a local friend tune it for me.

As I recall, Carl had his heads CNC'd, but he made the real gains by going from an Ed Wright's mail order tune 327 RWHP to Ed's Dyno tune which took him up to around 365 RWHP thereabouts.

I guess it takes a lot of tweaking here and there to have both a daily driver and a low 12 high 11 ride. But with the right combo (even with a mild cam) I belive it can be accomplished.JMHO
