need opinions right now! on heads/cam

Ok im about to spend 1500 on Lloyd Elliot Heads and a nu-tek 246/252 .610/615 cam. the heads are brand new and so is the cam. The heads flow 275@.600/195@.600.
1. Would this package make good power(im lookin for somethin around 350 at the wheels..or more.) on a stock block 93 6 speed trans am.(with proper pcm from pcmforless chip custom made.

2. Would this car be streetable...i will be driving it to and from VA to CT(8 hour drive) once every 2 months. I dont care about mileage..i care about reliability. Ill pay the horrible gas prices..let me know asap as im going to be getting them tonight.-Mark

dude that setup would probably make around 400rwhp with all the neccesary components. but no way would i call that "streetable". that cam is huge. is it a solid roller, i'm guessing? like i say, everyone has their opinion on what is or what is not streetable and i think i'm more extreme than a lot of people.

That's pushing it in terms of "streetable", but to each his own. You're also pushing the limits of a HR cam with the lift, and you're also going to be pushing your piston to valve clearance limits there. BE SURE to check everything very good.

Honestly, given the flow numbers shown on the heads, there's probably no reason to go that high with the lift.

You're also looking at a VERY high powerband. Close to 7K peak probably, and forget about down low power.

Are you absolutely sure that's the cam you want???

i saw that thread

buy all of it and sell the cam or just buy the heads

i wouldnt be scared to run that cam on the street!

also i would bet those lift numbers are with 1.6 roller rockers, you could use 1.5 rollers and drop it down some for a little more longevity/streetability

With that setup I would be very very suprized if you weren't making atleast 380 to the wheels with all the proper complementing mods(LT headers,CAI,good tune,30lb injectors,etc.). Talk to Lloyd he'll tell you just about exactly what you will make with what you have. Also the definition of "streetable" is very different in everyone's opinion. But in my opinion without knowing much about cam's at all. If you can handle the cam lope, and as long as your setup/with tune will idle well I think you'll be just fine. I actually wouldn't be suprized if you got pretty decent gas mileage as well IF you can stay out of the throttle. Reliability shouldn't be much of an issue, but keep in mind the rest of the engine is now going to be the weak point with the added power. Run er til she blows and build a 383. That's my motto.

dont be skurred, just do it and if you dont like it buy another cam, you wont ever know until you try
and if you go and stick a bummer bump stick in and then wish you had more afterwards, you'll be kicking yourself
