We're located just off 208, about two miles from the lake.
I'm thinking that I may just throw a new GM Opti at the car, and perhaps swap the wires while I'm at it. Any thoughts?

warm side or cold side of the lake? I dunno the route numbers up there very good, we have a place on the warmside.. Longview i think is the road name

The opti sounds like a good idea, Specially since it sounds like moisture is getting into it on wet days, still hard to say, i've found a couple things on my car before that caused it to shake and throw a misfire code

Like what? I'd be interested to hear about other possible causes.

Cold side...

Thanks again,
Rick

bad running

Get the car to a very, very, dark place and open the hood while it is running, any misfires are clearly visible. Check fuel pressure. Smoke from the rear of manifold could be a bad intake manifold gasket, a common problem. Check engine vaccum. Do not throw parts at it ! Best of luck, Ted

Plugs, wires prolly be #1, I just found a burned plug wire recently on mine, Bad me on not checking closer! . Other things that'll cause the shakes would be the egr, o2 sensors and I think I even read somewhere that a MAF will cause the shakes AND misfires, but I hadn't come across that yet myself. But like everyone here said, plugs and wires being the first place to look. Very common

The faulty EGR system will cause your car to miss and stumble. You can check your EGR valve with one of those hand held vacuum pumps. Hook the pump up to the EGR vacuum line, pump the pump and see if holds a vacuum. Another thing you can try is to place a blockoff plate at the back of the intake where the EGR tube connects. This will block off will stop exhaust gases from entering your intake when the EGR actuates. If the EGR is bad the stumble will go away. No source of exhaust to pull into the intake.

RKHiPerformance I have PM'd you the BEST f-body shop in the MD/VA/DC region. Problem is it's up in Glen Burnie, but may be worth your time. Just an example one of the cars the shop owner worked on just won the CC Pump Gas Drags last weekend and a second got an honorary mention for "Most Legit Street Car".

Is this shop top secret?

Last nite I cleared the misfire in #6 code and started the car. It ran rough and seconds later the same code re-appeared. I cleared the code again and seconds later the misfire in #6 code came right back.
I originally thought I had an Opti-related misfire and #6 was just the code set first. My feeling now is that the problem is indeed directly related to #6.
I looked closely at the wires (well...what little I can see without any disassembly) and there may have been some contact between the passenger-side wires and the A/C & power steering pullies.
I ordered a set of wires last night and will replace them when they arrive. I suppose I will replace the plugs, as well. Any recommendations there?
Does anyone have a link to a plugs-n-wires swap guide for an LT1? It looks like this will be a fun job.
I think I will also replace the Opti at some point soon, in the hopes of curing the no-start-when-wet problem.

I really appreciate the replies,
Rick

I highly reccomend getting the over the head wire set. Once you go larger than the stock diameter those pulleys will be a problem.

The 8mm Taylors were a bit of a problem, as you describe. My plan is to replace the Taylors with a good quality OEM-style set that will fit in the factory looms.
I don't have headers and don't know if the over the valve cover routing will be an issue with the manifolds.

Thanks again,
Rick

8mm will work fine in the stock locations. 8.5 however can be a PITA.
