im buying some valvetrain parts for my le2 package and lloyd reccomends me using gm guideplates he reccomends me using Part # 14011051 http://www.gmgoodwrench.com/perfpart...Engine%20Parts (cut and paste link) but it looks like these are for a 6 cylender car. also what are they talking about by grinding for clearing the hold down bolts?
im a little confused

It looks like Lloyd is recommending some custom stuff for ya maybe?

And the grinding is so they clear your valve cover hold down bolts, or put simply, the bolts in the center of your valve covers that hold them securely to the head.

I'd get in touch with Lloyd just to confirm, but I'm pretty sure most of your 90* V6 valvetrain components are the same as the Gen 1 & 2 SBC stuff, as they are basically a SBC with the last two cylinders missing.

Re: need a little help

14011051 is correct for the LT1. The grinding mentioned is when used on a V6. No grinding for the LT1. Lloyd is not going to recommend something that is not going to work correctly. Probably hundreds of people are using these guideplates on their LT1's and it appears it is the only correct non-adjustable plate out there.
