Alright, i'm cleaning the gasket area and i need to know that on the water pump houseing, is there a gasket that sits on the plate that closes off the waterpump.

 

I'm assuming you're talking about the plate on the front of the pump. There is a large o-ring that seals the plate. I would defnately recommend a new one. I got one through NAPA, but they had to order it. You may get lucky though and find a store with one on the shelf, but it's doubtful. Good luck!
