Need help surging idle from cam swap

my friend swapped in a hotcam from the le2 cam with le2 heads and now the car is surging all over the place so we took it apart to make sure the timing gears were lined up correctly and they were. the opti is a 95 and up and in proper working condition because it was working b4 car was taken apart. The chip has been retuned but somehow the car is still running very rich as if timiming is off somehow. My friend is ready to push it into the canal so any help is very appreciated.

it also seems as if the car is missing. I just finished fooling with it an hour ago. we have tried 2 optis with no luck. Could bad valve adjustment be a cause of this.

Re: Need help surging idle from cam swap

Check all the obvious stuff first:

vacuum leaks
wires properly seated
no burn wires
fuel pressure

Could also need to be tuned.

ok we checked the valves, vacuum leaks. we also checked the plug wires although i may recheck those. The car now idles well but pops now and then after we disconnected the iat sensor. So i think it is either a timing problem and/or wire problem.
