Need help removing knock sensor....under car now!

I'm working on getting the heads off right now and am trying to drain the coolant from the block. I got to the knock sensor, and i turn it, but the inside part just spins. I'm guessing this isn't supposed to be this way? How do I get this off?

Thanks!

Break off the large round portion of the knock sensor and use a pair of vise grips to remove the remaining threaded portion.

If I turned the gold part of the Knock sensor, does that mean that I broke it and need a new one?

Hard to say. You could test it by using a meter to measure in the range of 3300-4500 ohms from the center terminal to ground (or outside metal shell of the sensor).
