Need help QUICK!!!

Alright I just got my car back together and it cranked right up. But I think my timing is way off because my headers started to glow red. And it seemed to be a little slow reving and a little sluggish. What could cause this? how could it be fixed? Could it be the computer or the timming chain be on wrong? Also there are three places on the back of the optispark that the dowel can go which one is the right one and if it was in the wrong one would it still crank.

any help would be appreciated Thanks Brian

You should have asked about the opti sooner.

This is how it should go. It is possible to get it on wrong, but may not run. You might also have plugs wires on incorrectly.
If you are tooth or two off on the cam sprocket, it may run, but not very well at all.

People have gotten the dowen in the wrong hole. I am not positive whether it will run or not. It usually causes some popping or backfiring.

If it ran ok before you did the work, it is probably something you did. Check easy stuff first, like vacuum hoses and all connections you touched. If you have some way of monitoring it with a scan tool, that may tell you something.
Don't think it is a computer problem. Nothing you did should have affected that. Last resort, take the front back apart to verify that you have everything lined up correctly.

As long as you closed the AIR fittings to the exhaust, there should be no problem with it.
