need help poping through the exhaust.
need help poping through the exhaust.
ok here is what it's doing. it pops through the exhaust but only when it's at low rpm's and i give it gas. say like i am going 25 mph in 3rd gear and i hit the gas it pops once then goes. it was doing this about a week ago but alot worse it was poping will it was idleing and when you reved it up. i took it to the gm garage and my ait sensor was reading -40 below. it was just a bad wire and got it fixed the car runs alot buetter but still pops alittle bit like i explained above. i was wondering i got 1.6 rr and new springs put on awhile ago if they were alittle out of adjustment would that make it pop? say like if some where tightened down to much. i think there set at 3/4 of a turn. so tell me what you guys think thanks
also the gm dealler told me that my car was running really rich could that cause it?

Does it sound like a miss? Could be the opti!
I dont think the RR being out of adjustment will make a pop. When my opti went out, the first time, I would floor it and the car would just pop, pop, pop. Then it would go, but it was not happy about it. There was also a noticable miss while the car was just sitting the ideling. Hope ya gte it figured out.
Could be a lot of things, but if its thorugh the exhaust, I would go with either exhaust leak, or just unburnt fuel. If your car is running rich that could explain the pop. What exhaust are you running, and do you get poping on decelertaion? If so i wouldnt worry about a single pop too much.
my car does the same thing i think. it almost sounds like a very quiet backfire when ou get back on the gas after decelerating. mine also does it when decelerating if im in to low of a gear. i dont know what it is though. maybe not enough back pressure. do you have a cutout or an aftermarket exhaust. check for holes in your exhaust. or if you have a cutout try capping it and see if it stops.
