need help please

ive been reading over the forum for a while learning as much as possible. i am looking to but a 95 z28. i test drove one and took it to my nearby mechanic. he says the car needs the timing cover resealed, the oil pan resealed and the rear main is questionable. if i purchase this car, will these 3 possible problems be very costly to fix?

thanks in advance for all the help!

If you can do it yourself, it won't cost much. If you have to pay someone, it may cost up to several hundred dollars.

Board etiquette is such that you should post only once to a thread in 24 hours, unless you have some info to add.

Here is some info, since you are new and might not be aware:

thank you for the information,

because of these problems the car has minor leaks, would these problems lead people to stay away from it because there are terrors in the future? if i purchase this vehicle should i get it fixed asap? the car will be sitting for the next 6 months if i go threw with the deal

Sometimes a leak at the rear yields the diagnosis of the rear main seal, when actually the back of the intake is leaking. This is a common issue, and is a very easy fix. Our timing covers leak, and most likely the PAN is NOT the issue.

Buy the car, and have the intake sealed if this is the case (put your hand way back, and behind the motor, a mirror will work well, and see if it is leaking from between the block and intake).

Sounds like a good find.
