need help with overheating problem..

ok i recently was driving my car and the top heater hose that plugs into the right side of the heater core and goes to the water pump cracked. i replaced it and added a whole bottle of 50/50 antifreeze. started it up and it still over heated.. a friend of mine said it could be the thermostat or somthing of that nature considering i added cold antifreeze to it when it was way to hot. so i let the car cool down for approx half hour.. got in and it was at normal running temp about 180 or so.. i drove it with the heat off at first and the temp started to slowly rise... so i turned the heat on full blast and it wasnt pushing out very hot.. the temp went up to the orange so i pulled over and let it cool down again for awhile..the fans were running for about another minute before the shut off when the car was off.. i started it up again and ran the heater on full blast and drove it a few more miles and the heat was super hot and the temp was about right.. but when i got home it started to stay up a little bit more.. it was jumping around this whole time kinda .. im not sure what it could be. the water pump on the car is fairly new and i seen circulation in the radiator after filling it up. can anyone help me with this problem.? thanks

I think u should bleed the cooling system. when you replaced the ripped hose u probably got air in your cooling system.. Theres a little screw on a big hose that goes to the water pump and another one that infront of the alternator (i think lol) start your car and open those up until water or coolant comes out. then your good 2 go.

thanks for the help awhile back.. i did what you said and it worked..anyone know where i can find a OEM heater hose with the bleader and metal attachments on it. the one i bought keeps leaking at the heater core connection and is very flimsy as opposed to the factory one on the bottom that is stock.

If you want a new one, you can still get one from the dealership. Although, I waited 7 months for mine to come in. Oct 08 - May 09

you could always call and see how long your local stealership would take.

actually, if it is not immediately available (in stock) somewhere, then all they could do it just order it. They would have no idea how long it might take before it comes in.
