Need Help - No throttle power

Hey guys I need some serious help as I am in a loss at what the problem might be.

Back on the 1st of Jan. my optispark went out and my car sat until now. I changed the optispark distributor (brand new cap and rotor from Summit Racing) Now the car will hesitantly turn on, but I can only make it do that if I have the gas peddle pushed all the way to the floor. However, with it like that, it is struggling to run at all, only making it to a max of 200-300 RPM's. (yes, that is hundreds, not thousands). I changed the fuel filter this morning and it seems to prime just fine. I haven't checked fuel pressure because I don't have the gage with me.

At this point I don't know what else I can possibly do to fix this problematic car!!! If you have any idea please help me out.

Thanks

Are you sure when you put the opti back on that the dowel was lined up correctly and made sure that the plug wires are in the right places?

Yeah the plugs are in the right position. I labeled them ahead of time so they would not get mixed up. As far as the dowel goes I triple checked it. It is way too hard to get that on out of alignment cause it would have to be banged in. This is my third opti swap and I hate that dowel. . .I'm considering changing the wires cause one seemed a little loose. But one bad cylinder wouldn't cause all that loss would it? . . . Thanks for the suggestions. More would be appreciated.

93/94 doesn't use the cam dowel pin to drive the Opti. It uses a splined drive shaft, which is frequently mis-indexed, causing the engine to run........ poorly, if at all. As impossible as it seems to do that, I'd estimate that as many as 10% of the Opti installs go bad because they are not indexed correctly, at least judging by how many times its happened to people on this forum.

What do you mean by what bend of the options is it? As far as reving it up I can't. I have to be WOT for it to even stay on. When I am WOT it only gets 300 RPM. And again that is hundred and not thousand. When I release the peddle it dies almost instantly. I am very confused by it.

Well injuneer I respect your advice enough that I will pull it all apart and recheck it to see if it is lined up wrong. Looks like Tuesday will suck for me. Until then has anyone got any other ides?

Opps didnt read your sig

I would take injuneers advice last thing you want to do is to start changing things and spending money and it turn out to be the opti. Its a pain in the *** and when i did mine i actually purchased a bad opti off ebay and ended up replacing a bunch of things and took the opti off 7 times until taking the opti back.

Actually, after reading the original post again, I'm confused. Did you change the ENTIRE distributor, or did you just do a cap/rotor, which would not even require removing the splined shaft from the cam sprocket???????

Sorry for the delay in responding.

I changed the entire thing including cap and rotor. Sorry for the confusion. I bought the entire set from Summit Racing. I have never had any luck with buying just part of it. Autozone and their remanufactured ones are horrible. I'll check it tomorrow morning and see if injuneer is right, which I think he is. But I'll post an update in the afternoon. Thanks for all suggestions guys!

Well I removed everything and very easily placed the distributor back into the correct position. It starts easier now, buy still has little to no power. It is very loud and gets a max of 500 rpms.

I finally blew a code and it was "21" which is a bad TPS sensor. Could that be causing all of these problems, or could that code just blow because I ran it at WOT for over a minute getting only the 500 rpms. I am confident at this time that it is not the distributor. Also I changed the wires just because I had one bad one.

Suggestions anyone?
