Red face Need Help with high rpm Miss

I just recently noticed i have a pretty bad misfire just above 5,000 rpms, the car feels like its hitting the rev limiter and starts to sputter and backfire until i shift to another gear. The opti and coil are both less than a year old, as are the plugs and wires. I am wondering if this problem could be fuel related, and if anyone has had any similar experiences or tips on troubleshooting, thanks
Brandon

Call me when you get in town, and we'll go for a ride. I can more than likely help you find it. My car did that when I had a crack in the coil wire, and if thats the case I have an extra lying around we can throw on there.

In most cases a miss is going to be spark related. Here are a couple of ideas to try. Park in an extremely dark area, like a garage with the lights off, and see if you can see any of the plugs or wires arching any place. Get a squirt bottle and fill it with some soapy water, try shooting the plug boots, and the wires with the water, it makes it easier to ground so you should see the arching. Take a test light and ground it, then touch around the plug boots, this should also be an easy way to see if you have a plug boot arching, you can also touch around the wires with the test light. With this method you are not actually probing the wires, you just have to get the test light close enough so the spark will arch to it. Check to make sure all your plugs are in tight, I've seen them back out before and cause a miss.
