Need Help From Gutted Cat Guys
I bought my car w/ my headers already on it.I had to change my flange gasket,so therefore had to take the driver side pipe out w/ the cat that leads to the Y-pipe.My check engine light has always been on since I got it.When I looked in the cat, there was nothing in it,it was pretty dark in there so stuck a long screwdriver through it,and nothing. And I also noticed that my O2 sensor was cut at the wire.Does any one have any pics of a gutted driver side cat,or can describe what it looked like before you gutted it,was there anything in there to begin with.I have to pass emissions so any info would be great.I need to know if I have to change the O2 sensor or the entire pipe.
It should look like a honeycomb inside the cat. You can buy some o2 sims and hope you pass emissions. I would do that before buying a cat. If you do have to buy one buy a hi-flo. I gutted my cat a while back, cant afford the o2 sims so I just deal with the bad gas mileage, the service light and the car running to rich. I dont have to deal with that emissions crap yet.
If you have to pass emissions, buy a hiflow cat. Don't screw around and hope (no offense). Also, don't worry about O2 sims. They won't help you pass, buy the extension and hook them back up.
