Nope, just 2 expensive thin pieces of paper.

Re: Need help getting car to start after it died...

Well we got everything off right now and I was comparing the old opti to the new one by turning the pin thing sticking out of the back of them... the new one is smooth almost like its oiled, very easy to turn, the old one makes a scraping noise and I can only turn it barely 1/4 turn before I cant anymore even with pliers I couldnt turn it and the pin when I pull it out is all rusty on the old one... Im guessing something is wrong inside the opti to be making that noise and taking the force of the motor to turn it lol what do you think?

BTW thank you for that write up man it helped a lot!

ALSO when installing the opti when they say align it right does that mean the pin needs to go all teh way into the opti since it only goes in one way to the opti or is there some whay you have to align it when putting it into the cam?? Does it only go in one way?

Thats the same problem I had. The bearings were all messed up, that's why you can't turn it.

The opti only goes in one way. I took the opti apart to make alignment easier.

Whatever happened with the car? I have the same problem. My car died on the way to a friends house. I have a fuel pressure gauge and a laptop with freescan. Fuel pressure stayes right about 44 psi and there are no trouble codes. I pulled a plug and cranked it over and I do have spark.

That's what I was afraid of. Tomorrow I'm going to try and hook up a timing light and see if the timing is off.

What are you gona reference the timing light to? I suppose you could run #1 up to TDC and put a white mark on the damper pulley but that will only give you gross indications. It won't give you minor indications.

That's what I was going to try. I just wanted a general idea on where it's at.

Re: Need help getting car to start after it died...

It seems to be getting the spark at the right time. I had my sister turn over the car. I put my finger over the #1 hold and felt for compression and watched the plug and timing light for spark. I took the coil and cleaned off some corrosion, it didn't get any better. The coil will throw spark to a piece of metal .5" away so I don't think it's bad. So do you guys think I should pull my car apart and take a look at the opti?

Well took the car apart today to look at the opti. I pulled it out. The bearing seems to be fine. In fact the whole unit looks pretty new. It seems like there is a newer vented cover on the older base. Any more ideas?
