well this problem never happened again after this one time. i went ahead and repalced the coil anyways cause the coil terminal was a bit corroded and changed the plugs. did a few more things today. the egr was stuck closed and the valve were WAY too tight. i adjusted the valves w/ engine running and had to back the nuts off 2+ turns before they started to click. idles and runs much better now.
