Need help FAST!

Okay, so tonight was install night for my 1.6rr's. The car is still sitting in my friends garage and I HAVE to have it running by tomorrow night. Here's the problem:

I'm getting a few loose rockers... He has done this many times before and is following 'shoebox's' instructions. We are sure that the cyl is at TDC then we tighten until the pushrod doesn't move. After that we then are tightening 1/2 turn... We followed them to a T and it just isn't working. These are the CC Pro Magnum Self-Aligning ones.

Any ideas?

Now I have read through a lot of posts regarding this and it seems that everyone says to do it while the car is running way. I'm a little nervous doing this... Not worried so much about the oil squirting, as it already did to me once tonight. Just worried that we might f something else up.

how i did mine was crank the motor over till the piston was tdc, or the rocker was up the whole way, we only tightened them about a 1/4 of a turn after no lash

Adjustment

Shoebox has the best write up and the post above this is correct.
I have done it both ways and I have the same RR's.
Do the adjustments cold, by TDC and rotate per Shoebox's instructions.
Then warm the engine and pull a valve cover off, start the engine and loose the nut and allen screw until the rocker starts to chatter and then start turning it down until the chatter goes away, then give it 1/4 turn. At idle my 93 did not spit any oil, but rev it up and your asking for a mouth full of oil. Then just go to the other side and make the same adjustments. This is very easy and is the most accurate in my opinion.

This method is by far the easiest and most accurate....no need to find #1 TDC either. Works every time for me...never have had to readjust mine....1/4 to 1/2 turn lash. If they are close now I would fire it up and let the lifters pump up before adjusting.

Pick a cylinder, any cylinder. Rotate the engine until the exhaust starts to open. Adjust the intake valve. Now rotate again until the intake valve just closes. Adjust the exhaust valve. Repeat for the other seven cylinders.

TTT - Any more ideas, because we have tried everything except for while it is running and there should be no reason why I have to do it while it's running...
