need help on coolant lines from heads to TB
need help on coolant lines from heads to TB
OK, this is a custom application. I don't want the coolant lines going to the TB so can I just delete the lines completly from the back of t he heads? There is a hard line from one head to the other. Then that line goes to the TB. Is there I way I can just put a plug on the back of the heads so no coolant flows?
Thanks for any help

You definitely do not want to delete the "steam" holes flow from the back of the heads. Extremely critical in the reverse flow cooling system. I know serious engine builders who have run huge -AN lines independently from the back of each head to improve uniformity of head temperatures. On my car, the line from the back of the heads connects to the port on the passenger side radiator cap, right under the fill cap. I think its the "heater" lines that also supply the TB???? Could be wrong.....
[EDIT] 93/94 is as I described. 95-97 appears different. What year is your car? Might want to include that info in tech questions so you have a chance of getting the correct answer.

I believe you are talking about the TB Bypass.
This is a standard mod and can be found many places on this site.
No. You shouldn't plug the pipe from the heads. It is there to keep heads from getting steam pockets.
Basically remove the 90 deg, rubber hose (cut it off) from the TB where it connects to the pipe coming from the rear of the Pass-side heads.
Then remove the rubber hose exiting the TB on the driver's side.
Now connect the hose you just removed and reconnect it to the pipe exiting the rear of the pass side heads.
Essentially you are just bypassing the coolant around the TB so that it goes straight to radiator for recirculation.
The current routing is only so the TB will be heated up when it is cold (usually unecessary or desirable) but you do need to allow the heated coolant to exist the heads.
When you are finished rerouting the coolant lines you can plug both sides of the TB with 3/8 vacuum caps just for the hell of it.
If this is not what you are talking about. Never mind.
