1994 z28 lt1 replaced head gaskets and now car wont run.gas is flowing to intake so i checked for spark and not getting any.replaced the coil today and still nothing.the car ran before i replaced head gaskets.when i got the car all back togather i tried to start it and started right up then died 5 seconds later and now it will only turn over.pulled the 1 plug and it didnt even look wet.had a friend come over to check the codes and it would not even read any codes.it was like the car shut the computer down and i cant get any info out of it.any help would be great thanks.

 

Check opti harness from moving it aroun, did the opti gety wet? Check ingnition module.

 

Sounds like some grounds are loose. Check the grounds in back of the coil bracket.

 

I would check ALL ground straps and especially the ground wire that
goes from the PCM to the passenger side engine block. I would also
disconnect both battery terminals, clean them, then reconnect.

A few months ago, the Z wasnt shifting out of 1st and the car ran
like cr@p - turned out to be dirty connections at the battery terminals.

 

What did he attempt to pull the codes with?

 

i dont know the name of the scanner but it was obd1 and obd2 capable.and it would not read anything.kept saying check connections and wait 10 seconds and retry.we hooked it up to my blazer and the scanner would read that but not the camaro.

 

check all fuses maybe you dont have power to the ignition

 

the thing is i dont understand is how it fired right up for 4-5 seconds then died.

 

went and checked the fuses and they are good
