Using the tranny is fine, probably better than using the oil pan like I did, but I decided to take my chances

This may help, it's the page I used to help me last week when I did mine. It's for Jet hot's but should be the same for almost all headers.

NO luck, with the first half inch of jacking, the entire car raises - HOW HIGH SHOULD THE CAR BE BEFORE JACKING? AS POSTED, IT IS ONLY ON WHEEL RAMPS NOW -- i hope i get this soon...

Dude, I don't know what else to tell you. Take the jack all the way down so it's not on the engine. Jack it up so it's just touching the engine. From there SLOWLY raise the jack and check to see if the bolt slides out.

ok, just checking. The board he used was to give even pressure on the tranny (*don't ask why I know that's important! ) The calc book is used to get an extension on the jack, same as a block of wood. well, the bolt "should" slide out when all is aligned, no turning necessary.

be patient with your car, you dont wanna fudge anything up. Are you trying to install your headers on a set of ramps?

Let the engine ALL THE WAY DOWN. Jack it up a LITTLE bit, and try to tap the bolt out with a hammer. Trust us, it will come out.

Sounds like you have your hands full trying be be done by tomorrow, if you were closer I would just come over and start throwin wrenches
