Y PIPE is messed up ....

Ok so this week, I get my Pacesetter Long tubes in, the emissions legal ones. Ill make a thread about them alter, overall though it wasnt Too bad. I get them in, and tourqued down, all hooked up.

With them I order their ORY which is MADE for the headers. So I get under there to bolt it up, and see that to hook it up to the cat back, the Bent end of the cat back ( Where it shifts over from along side the driveshaft, too more offcenter ) needs to be cut off so it can slip into there. Thats NOT the problem.

On my car, since its a convertible ( I think ) it has some type of brace that goes from the passanger to driver side, held on by 4 bolts( I think ) and im pretty sure its to prevent so much chasis flex. The Y pipe looks like it is made to go ABOVE where this is, but the Y Pipe WILL NOT fit between this brace thing, and the floor boards. I cant jsut remove it or my car will rattle and flex itself to pieces ... Has ANYONE had this problem with a Y pipe on a convertible Z28/TA and if so, HOW am I suppose to hook it up.


My one and only idea is to get some type of spacers and way longer bolts, get it between, and bolt it down with the spacers in place so that it fits, but then I think I'll be rite back to it not being strong enough to prevent flex.


Also this bracket thing, it goes over by the tail end of the tranny and extends back about 15 inches, over paret of the DS. As far as I know its only for convertibles, but I could be totally wrong.


Someone PLEASE help me, I live rite down the street from a cop station and I cant drive it past there with open headers too many more times before they catch me ... Also, I dont want to burn up valves runnin open headers ( If they can burn valves up with open long tubes ??? )

Anyways, Someone PLEASE help, im out of ideas, and cant exactly ask a shop to install a ILLEGAL exhaust for me lol so ... Thanks

 

Somebody say something ??? Im sure SOMEONE on here has a LT1 convertible with Long Tubes and a Y pipe ... I donno what to do.

 

Pacesetter actually built those headers with my friends 95 Z.. It too is a vert, but to my knowledge that crossbrace was not on the car because he had put SFCs on it. I would get a set, that's how his car is and it's solid as a rock.
