Need help ASAP!!!!

Just finished putting in my new PI Vig. 3200, and it locked right when i turned it on, but soon as it warmed up to barely 110 degrees, doesn't lock anymore. I've posted a lot about this problem, but the new converter didn't fix it. I've replaced the TCC Lock Up solenoid and harness, Tranny filter, fluid, pcm for less tune. Only thing i didn't replace was the TCC PWM solenoid. Any ideas?

Re: Need help ASAP!!!!

Is it setting any codes? There is a code P1470 Transmission Component Slippage or something or other that will deactivate the lock-up.

When I installed mine, it locked up for a day then stopped. Turned out the clutch had burned out and took my transmission with it or vise-versa, the trans company and converter company argued back and forth. If it is not setting a code, then likely the clutch is burnt.

So, what stopped you from replacing the PWM solenoid? You replaced about everything else.

Re: Need help ASAP!!!!

I just replaced the PWM solenoid, no luck, still doesn't lock when warm. Also, I'm just thinking about wiring up a lock-up switch so i can make it lock when i'm driving on the interstate. How can I do that with obdII, i've read the article on thirdgen.org for the obd1, but i can't find which connectors i can do with my 97.

Re: Need help ASAP!!!!

You can activate the TCC Sol by grounding the tan/black wire going to the tranny. If you open the wire or short it to ground, you will get a P1864 fault.

But, you will not be able to get it to work without providing the PWM Sol with the correct signal. PWM means Pulse Width Modulated and unfortunately that can't be duplicated.

Re: Need help ASAP!!!!

I've read about people doing it on 98+'s, is there any way I can do this on mine? I tapped into the tan/black in my wiring harness, but didn't finish running the switch yet. So your saying that If i ground it, it'll just throw a code and not lock the converter?

It is throwing a p1652, Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) output circuit. My speedo and cruise control work fine however. I had posted in another thread about this, and shoebox had said that my VSS sensor itself should be fine and if my speedo is working fine, it sounds like something in the tuning is wrong.

Re: Need help ASAP!!!!

I was talking to a guy who works for Yank, and he said:

1. their is an O-ring on the input shaft of trans if it is cracked with age or not seated in the bore it will leak when hot and it can also be in the valve body of trans as there is also a control valve that is a close fit in bore if it is worn it willl act the same
2. you have a fluid leak some where
or
3. the clutch of the converter is leaking fluid past it that will also act like that.

I know the converter is fine, this is the second one to do this. I'm also pretty sure the O ring is fine, i looked at it when i took the converter off, and it didn't look cracked. The control valve in the vale body sounds promising. Just wondering how I could get it fixed or I could verify its the problem. I guess i'd have to drop the pan and take off the vavle body. Any ideas?
